Really striking, bold compositions in these sixties anime cartoons. Something has been lost with everything in widescreen format now. The compositions in this (Testujin 28-go, later Americanized to Gigantor, by the creator of Giant Robo) remind me of the incredible original Astro Boy compositions, which debuted the same year. Those Astro Boy cartoons remind me of Kubrick compositions sometimes. Legend tells it that Kubrick asked Tezuka to design 2001 sets but Tezuka turned him down. That sounds like it could be a myth but I believe it.
